Terms of Service
The short version: Yard-Lift connects neighbors — we don't verify licenses or insurance, and we're not the ones doing the work. Here's the full version.
1. What Yard-Lift is
Yard-Lift is a platform that connects homeowners who'd like help with yard and home upkeep to local businesses and volunteers willing to take on the work. Yard-Lift does not perform any yard, painting, pressure washing, or cleanup work itself, and is not a party to any agreement between a homeowner and a business or volunteer.
2. We don't verify licensing, insurance, or background
Businesses may optionally mark themselves as "licensed and insured" on their profile. This is self-reported by the business — Yard-Lift does not verify licenses, insurance coverage, certifications, or run background checks on any business or volunteer. Homeowners are responsible for doing their own due diligence, and businesses are responsible for holding whatever licenses or insurance their work and local jurisdiction require. Yard-Lift facilitates front-yard and exterior work by default. Granting a business access to your backyard or other private areas of your property is a decision made directly between you and the business — Yard-Lift plays no role in that decision and doesn't verify who you're granting that access to.
3. Accounts
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information on your account and for anything that happens under it. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
4. Unclaimed business listings
Some businesses shown on Yard-Lift are marked "Unclaimed" — a basic listing (name, category, phone number, and any public email or website) that we added ourselves, compiled from publicly available information, so homeowners can find local pros who haven't joined the platform yet. An unclaimed listing isn't self-reported by the business, has no account behind it, and can't receive requests directly. If you're the owner of a business shown this way, you can claim it via the "Claim it" button on the listing, or contact us to have it corrected or removed entirely.
5. Payments
Business memberships are processed securely through Stripe. Membership fees are generally non-refundable once charged, except where a refund is issued at Yard-Lift's discretion. Yard-Lift is never a party to, and does not process, any payment a homeowner and business may separately agree to for the work itself.
6. Conduct
Be honest about the work you're requesting, offering, or reporting as complete. Messages, reports, and blocking exist to keep conversations between a homeowner and a business civil and on-topic — abusing them, or the platform generally, may result in account suspension.
7. No guarantee of outcome
Yard-Lift doesn't guarantee that a business will respond to a request, that a business will complete a job to any particular standard, or that a homeowner will actually hire a business that has expressed interest. Disputes about the quality or completion of work are between the homeowner and the business. The same applies to Deal Days: claiming a discounted slot doesn't guarantee the business will honor it exactly as posted, and a business may cancel a Deal Day, or it may expire, without individual notice to anyone who claimed a spot. Claiming a Service Plan sets up a recurring arrangement between a homeowner and a business, renewed automatically on Yard-Lift — but Yard-Lift doesn't guarantee the business will keep offering it, complete any future instance of it, or that pricing stays the same; either side can end the recurring arrangement at any time.
8. Limitation of liability
Yard-Lift is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Yard-Lift and its operators aren't liable for damages arising from work performed (or not performed) by a business or volunteer, from a business's licensing or insurance status, or from any interaction between users facilitated through the platform.
9. No scraping or republishing
Yard-Lift's listings, photos, and stories are provided for individuals browsing the platform, not for automated collection. You may not use bots, scrapers, crawlers, or similar automated means to access or copy Yard-Lift's content or data, and you may not republish, redistribute, or build a competing product or database from Yard-Lift's listings without our written permission. We may suspend access, including by IP address or account, for anyone violating this section.
10. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. Continuing to use Yard-Lift after a change means you accept the updated terms.
